We are pleased to announce significant enhancements to our data, launching in February 2026. These updates are specifically designed to reinforce the accuracy, reliability, and depth of your Media Impact Value (MIV®) reporting.

By refining how data is captured and calculated, we are ensuring that MIV® remains the most precise and trustworthy metric for evaluating your brand’s global performance.

Launch Timeline

To ensure a seamless transition and protect your year-over-year reporting, we will follow a two-stage rollout:

  • February 1st: All new data collected starting February 1st will follow the updated rules and formats.
  • February 1st – 15th: We will recalculate all data from 2025 using these new standards. By updating your historical records, we ensure that your Year-over-Year (YoY) reporting remains consistent, allowing you to track growth and performance trends without any technical discrepancies between years.

Core Improvements to data quality

1. Online Slideshows/Galleries Unification

We are improving how images within slideshows/galleries are processed to ensure your MIV accurately reflects the editorial context of an article.

  • The change: Previously, multiple images within a single media slideshow were often treated as individual placements. Moving forward, these images will be consolidated into the single parent article.
  • The advantage: This prevents the overcounting of MIV by ensuring an article with slideshows is valued as one cohesive placement rather than multiple separate entries. The result is a more reliable Total MIV that reflects true editorial impact.

Timeline

New gallery-based content will follow this format starting January 1st, 2026. Historical data for 2024 and 2025 will be updated during our February data recomputation.

2. Improved brand association across your account

We have harmonized how MIV® is calculated to ensure total consistency across your entire account.

The change: Every document collected now automatically captures the MIV for every brand you track, regardless of which Focus or Feed it belongs to.

The advantage: This eliminates data gaps. Your placements are now automatically enriched with MIV for all matching brands you follow, ensuring you never miss a brand association again.

Unified Filtering

You can now filter any document by brand. This streamlines your reporting and provides a stronger foundation for future benchmarking.

3. AI-Powered Precision: High-Fidelity Brand Detection

We are upgrading our brand detection technology to increase the accuracy of the placements we capture for you.

The Change: We are moving from manual search parameters to advanced, AI-enriched detection models.

The Advantage: This AI methodology identifies your brand with higher sophistication—effectively filtering out irrelevant "noise" while correctly capturing relevant placements that might have previously been omitted.

To manage this transition and maintain the continuity of your reporting, we recommend the following:

  • Finalize 2024/2025 Reports (Before Feb 1st): If you need to run Year-over-Year MIV reports using the current data structure, please execute and save them prior to February 1st.
  • Avoid Reporting During Recomputation (Feb 1st – Feb 15th): We strongly advise against running or creating reports during this window. As historical data is being updated, MIV comparisons will be temporarily unstable.

These updates represent a significant step forward in data integrity, correcting historical overcounting and providing you with the most accurate reflection of brand value in the industry.
