Introduction

This article provides an introduction to the fundamentals of user management, including setting up user roles and privileges and designing the most efficient user experience.

User and Entity Structure

Users and Roles

In Launchmetrics Spotlight, users can be assigned one of three distinct roles: Viewers, Downloaders, and Administrators.

Viewers

Users with the role of "Viewers" are limited to viewing images within a magazine or downloading them with a watermark. They have read-only access to the content.

Downloaders

Users assigned the role of "Downloaders" can download images from a magazine without watermarks. However, their access is limited to the resolution associated with their contract type, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.

Administrators

Administrators possess full control over a magazine and its users. They can perform actions such as managing other users' rights, inviting new users, and validating access requests.

Magazines and Accounts

Magazines in Launchmetrics Spotlight are entities that represent a combination of a magazine name and a country. These magazines are part of larger entities called "accounts." An account can have an unlimited number of magazines, and each magazine can also have an unlimited number of users.

User Management

Joining a Magazine

To become a part of a magazine in Launchmetrics Spotlight, a user has two options: requesting access or receiving an invitation.

Access Request: If a user wishes to join a magazine, they can send a request to the administrators of that magazine. The administrators will then have the authority to grant or deny access to the requesting user.

Invitations: Administrators can also proactively invite specific individuals to join their magazine. Invitations are sent via email, making it convenient for invitees to accept the invitation and join. Additionally, administrators can share a "magic link," which allows anyone with the link to easily request access to the magazine. However, it is essential to note that even with the magic link, all users need to be validated by an administrator before gaining access. This additional layer of validation ensures the security of the magazine and prevents unauthorized usage of the magic link.

Magazine Administrators

Every magazine in Launchmetrics Spotlight can have multiple administrators. Administrators have the privilege of managing users' roles and access within the magazine. This feature allows for seamless collaboration within the magazine while maintaining appropriate levels of control and security.

Limitation on Magazine Membership

In Launchmetrics Spotlight, a user can belong to only one magazine at a time, even if they hold the role of an administrator. This limitation ensures clear role definitions and prevents potential conflicts when users are involved in multiple magazines.
