Introduction
At Launchmetrics we monitor content across different channels: online media and blogs, social networks and printed media (magazines and newspapers).
Our panel covers more than 37k online medias and blogs, more than 800k social accounts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter/X, Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, RED and Bilibili and more than 2.2k print titles and 8k print supplements.
As long as a specific media or social account is part of our panel, we can track almost all the content that is published, however there are some exceptions. Find below more information about the content type restrictions we have.
As always, if any specific source is not part of our panel, don’t hesitate to contact our team and we’ll look into it.
For Print we are able to monitor editorial, advertorial and advertising contents in the print titles from our Core Panel, which includes National Print Versions of Magazines and Newspapers.
All print content is tracked by applying our methodology that has been studied and curated to provide relevant value to our clients especially within the FLB context.
Based on our Methodology, we are used to not considering Catalogs, Books or Online Versions of the magazines as part of our panel.
Timing and Frequency
For print content the timing depends on multiple factors, as our team needs to acquire the magazines, process them and do the data checks and enrichments. These timings can vary depending on different factors, you can find more information here: https://help.launchmetrics.com/discover-coverage-miv/print-timing
Online
For Online content we are able to monitor any article that is published and publicly available on any media from our Online Panel. This includes gallery content, both the images and the text from the slides.
We do not monitor forums, comments on articles or other similar types of user generated content.
Some medias publish agency articles (press releases from press agencies) that are not listed in any publicly available URL, in those cases our crawlers may not be able to retrieve the content.
Articles that are behind a paywall are not monitored by default. We monitor paywalled content on a limited list of medias. For more information on the paywalled content you can check this article: https://help.launchmetrics.com/coverage-content/paywalled-content-in-launchmetrics-platforms
Content such as e-books or digital magazines (for example Issuu) is not part of our scope.
Also, content that is only available via PDF is not available.
In most cases if a media is only available via an App is also out of our scope.
Timing and Frequency
Online content is monitored automatically, 24/7. Our crawlers retrieve the new content at regular intervals during the day, with a dynamic frequency that it’s adjusted for each url, that can go from a check every 2 minutes to once every 24 hours.
Monitored articles are available in the Launchmetrics tools shortly after monitoring. Depending on the frequency, especially on medias that don’t publish a lot of content, there may be a slight delay between the article publication and the moment where the article is available on the platforms.
Social
For social networks we monitor the content from different social networks, the content available changing from one network to another depending on the restrictions and conditions allowed by each network owner. The social monitoring works automatically, 24/7, but it’s subject to more restrictions as the account owners can set up limitations and the network owner can also limit the data that is available to monitor.
“Dark Posts”
Some social networks can provide a type of content called “dark posts”. These posts are not published in the main timeline of the author account, but rather kept hidden and only available to a certain group of users. These posts can’t be monitored by Launchmetrics.
Recoveries
On some networks we can launch, under demand, a manual recovery to recover as many back posts as possible from the account, within certain restrictions defined by each network. These recoveries need to be launched manually by the Data Ops team on an account by account basis.
